Future International Academy is committed to making the admissions process as friendly as possible and welcoming students at any time of the school year subject to our admissions process.

At FIA, we accept students regardless of race, gender, nationality or religion. The aim of Future International Academy throughout our admissions process is to evaluate whether your child, as a prospective student, will benefit from the full range of our program and can positively contribute to the life of our school.

Families of students admitted to Future International Academy are expected to understand the school’s mission, learning philosophy, curriculum, and the values that support the school community.

Previous school records and any documents supporting previous educational and behavioral background should accompany application for admission. FIA requires a placement test to evaluate language, reading, and mathematical skills. Children, who are unable to access a place immediately, we will place them on our Waiting List for consideration later. When places become available, children on the Waiting List will be offered a place based on the date they register – so the earlier the better.

Selecting the appropriate school for your child is an important decision. While you are encouraged to learn more about our school and the admissions process through our website, we also welcome you to contact the Admissions Office with questions, or to request a tour of our school.

FIA Admission Policy and Procedures

Required Documents for Registration

  • Registration Form: Complete details, including child contact, birth certificate, and parent information.
  • Official ID: Copies of Emirates ID and passports for the child and both parents, including evidence of UAE residency.
  • Medical: Vaccination card and DOH-compliant medical files. (School will not refuse or withhold admission for children lacking vaccination cards. Students are accepted on the condition that vaccinations are completed within the year of enrollment.)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC): Required for Grade 2 and above, attested if from outside the UAE and if applicable, mid-year Grade 1.
  • Provision for Exceptions: Non-UAE transfer students are temporarily exempt from providing an Emirates ID if they sign an undertaking to submit it by the end of the term.
  • Academic reports for previous years
  • . Documents pertaining to individual education plans and relevant assessments, as well as evidence pertaining to gifted and talented students.
  • Any additional documents deemed necessary by the school.

Admission Criteria

Use of Assessments: Entrance exams and interviews are used to inform the level of learning support required rather than as a basis for determining admission.

Procedures:

  • Early Years (PreK-Grade 2): Oral interview and play date.
  • Grades 3-12: Interview followed by entrance exams in English, Math, and Science.
  • Waiting List: If oversubscribed, FIA maintains a transparent waiting list refreshed every term at a minimum.
  • Note: Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, FIA follows the updated UAE age cut-off date of 31st December for all new admissions
  • Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-KG): : Children must be 3 years old by 31st December of the admission year
  • Kindergarten 1 (KG1): Children must be 4 years old by 31st December of the admission year.
  • Kindergarten 2 (KG2): Children must be 5 years old by 31st December of the admission year
  • Grade 1: Children must be 6 years old by 31st December of the admission year

Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Admission Policy

Future International Academy (FIA) implements a fair and inclusive admission process for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), ensuring they are not denied enrollment based on special educational needs, disabilities, or medical conditions.

FIA adheres to the following structured requirements to ensure all students receive appropriate support:

  • Mandatory Disclosure: Parents must disclose all known information regarding their child’s needs and provide relevant documentation (e.g., Clinical Assessment Reports, IEPs, or DLPs) during the application process
  • Non-Refusal Policy: FIA is not authorized to decline admission based on ALN
  • Inability to Accommodate: If the school exceptionally considers itself unable to meet a student's specific needs, a formal notification supported by clinical evidence and child observations will be submitted to ADEK
  • Early Years Referral: Applicants under age 4 with identified ALN are referred directly to the Early Education Director for accommodation evaluation
  • Authorized Absence: FIA authorizes flexible leaves for medical or therapeutic reasons for students with ALN when supported by documentation
  • Clinical Assessment Reports: The school is authorized to request a Clinical Assessment Report conducted by a qualified professional (psychologist, speech pathologist, etc.) to assess specific needs
Admissions Consent Form
All parents who are applying for admission and are eligible to get admission for their children at FIA, must sign a consent form provided by the registration department.

Student Administrative Affairs

Attendance and Punctuality
  • Follow-up: FIA follows up on all unreported absences within 2 hours of the attendance register closing.
  • Absence Thresholds: Absence rates above 5% for Cycle 1-3 or 10% for KG are identified as a "cause for concern" and may lead to identification as being at "educational risk".

Illness:

  • Up to 3 days: Parent-written notes are required daily.
  • 4th consecutive day: A DOH-licensed physician’s sick leave certificate is mandatory.
  • FIA authorizes up to 12 annual school days for medical reasons without a doctor’s certificate.
  • Mandatory Promotion: Students are sequentially promoted with their peer group (Phase 1 and Phase 2/KG and Cycle 1)
  • Retention: Retention is an exceptional circumstance and requires ADEK approval. Students in Phase 3 and Phase 4 (Cycle 2 and 3) cannot be retained in the same grade more than twice. A student cannot be retained in more than two different grades during their entire school education.
  • Voluntary Repetition: Parents may request grade repetition if it is deemed in the best interest of the student’s wellbeing.

Credit Transfer (American Diploma)

This policy governs students transferring from non-American, international, or national curricula into the American Diploma Program.

  • General Principle: Admission is granted only if the student can reasonably achieve graduation requirements within their remaining time at FIA.

Credit Calculation (ADEK Standards):

1.0 Credit

Minimum 120 instructional hours.

0.5 Credit

Minimum 60 instructional hours.

No credit is awarded for instructional time below 60 hours.

  • Semester 2 Transfers: If a student joins in Semester 2 and does not study the same subject in Semester 1, the school awards a maximum of 0.5 credit for that subject.
  • Documentation: If official transcripts with credit hours are unavailable, a Credit Transfer Letter (Appendix A) or an Official Student Timetable must be provided to verify instructional hours.
Records Keeping and Confidentiality

Admission and medical files are stored in secure facilities accessible only to authorized staff. Confidentiality is maintained in compliance with Federal Decree Law No. (45) of 2021. Records are deactivated and safely disposed of once a student leaves the institution as per ADEK requirements.
